Individual, Couple & Family Counselling
“A tree, by weathering storms and sinking its roots deep into the earth, grows stronger and taller.”
– Irvin D. Yalom
I am human; therefore, I know suffering. When I consider the many times throughout my life that I have fallen on my knees and cried out to the God of the universe asking, “Why is this happening to me?” I realize every experience has been preparation to relate to others facing similar challenges. I gratefully have been equipped to help hurting people. I am also passionate about providing mental health services in rural settings for greater accessibility to care.
I consider the mind, body and spirit of a person during assessment and treatment planning, as well as the close relationships, family history, environment, community and culture they are apart of. I examine thoughts, emotions, behaviours and bodily sensations. I am trauma-informed, always conscious of the brain-body connection and development in its entirety. I use art, sand play, and Brainspotting, to access parts of self which have yet to be heard or process and release stored traumas underlying a wide range of emotional and physical problems. The struggles people face are highly complex. Ultimately, I believe that every human being has within them the power to heal.
Research shows that it is the relationship between client(s) and therapist that is the vehicle for change. Where the client is at is where you will find me. With curiosity, compassion and nonjudgement, I will do my best to understand what is happening for the client(s) and what direction they wish to take.
I offer psychotherapy services to individuals, couples and families, including supportive counselling for children, adolescents and adults. Online counselling services are available. I tailor treatment to meet the needs and therapeutic goals of every client. Collaboratively we work together to sort out what may feel overwhelming and move toward the quality of life they long for. More specifically, I work with anxiety, depression, anger, grief, trauma, self-worth, mood and personality disorders, couple conflict and relationship issues.
I provide a safe space to explore the client’s thoughts, emotions, behaviours and bodily sensations in order to help process their experiences, gain insight into areas in which they are stuck, decrease distress and move toward greater well-being.
I help couples identify the underlying emotions or wounds that are perpetuating unhealthy relationship patterns, as well as what their needs and hopes are. Together we work toward creating safety and connection within the couple relationship.
I work with the family to identify negative patterns of interaction and create new solutions to old problems. Together we explore each members’ feelings, needs, fears and hopes. The goal is to promote acceptance of self and other’s experience, enhance communication and increase emotional engagement.

– to choose one’s attitude in any given circumstance, to choose one’s own way.”
